What We Love About Alpbachtal:
In the rustic mountain village of Alpbach, traditional architecture and natural beauty meet like hardly anywhere else. There are probably the strictest building regulations in the whole of Austria here, with beautiful architecture and heritage farms, there is a charming Alpine atmosphere. The Alpbachtal was named Austria’s most beautiful village thanks to its picturesque chalets decorated with colourful flowers set in the middle of the mountains. The valley is situated in a magnificent skiing and walking area in the Tyrol province and is surrounded by mountains and a picturesque countryside with forests and Alpine lakes. Besides offering a fantastic selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, this pretty town is located only a 50 minutes’ drive from the beautiful capital city Innsbruck.
Being part of the ‘Ski Juwel Wildschönau – Alpbachtal’, this resort has a total of 93km of skiing on offer, comprising of 26km of blue, 54km of red and 13km of black pistes as well as 16km of marked routes. On top of this, the Ski Juwel Alptachtal Wildschönau offers a snow park and a ski race area. For those who cannot get enough of skiing, in the Wildschönau it is also possible to go nightskiing.
The Alpbach also offers 20 km of immaculate cross-country skiing trails in scenic surroundings, untracked powder slopes for ski tourers and marked winter hiking trails. Other popular winter activities in the area include tobogganing and paragliding. The picture postcard impressions seen on a winter walk through Alpbach will always remain in one’s memory.
Also, the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser is easily accessible from Hopfgarten. 300 kilometers of well-maintained hiking trails cover this high valley. In the Alpbachtal-Wildschönau there are no rugged and extremely steep mountains. The characteristics of these mountains can rather be described as follows: Gentle grass mountains, alpine hikes, forest paths and gorges contrast with real peaks and mountains.
